About Yemen
Strategically located in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Republic of Yemen is on the Arabian Peninsula and bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden to the south and Oman to the east. Crucially positioned along one of the world’s most active shipping lanes, the historically significant Republic of Yemen continues to be viewed as one of the Middle East’s most challenging but lucrative markets.
As the only state in the Arabian Peninsula to be a constitutional republic, international investors continue to be attracted by the abundance of oil and natural gas resources. Yemen has large, proven reserves of natural gas with the first LNG plant beginning production in October 2009.
In recent years, the Yemeni government has been actively pursuing plans to encourage foreign companies and technology providers to invest in the Republic’s oil, gas refining, petrochemical and mineral sectors.
