On January 12, 1997 Dove Energy Limited signed the Production Sharing Agreement with the Ministry of Oil & Minerals, Yemen as the Operator of Block 53, East Sarr.

The block is located in the Masila-Seiyun basin with proven oil systems and reservoir potential in the Qishn clastics, Sarr carbonates / clastic sequence and the fractured granitic basement. Block 53 is adjacent to Total’s Block 10, DNO’s Block 32 and Canadian Nexen’s prolific Block 14.

In the year 2000, the second well of the first exploration period resulted in the discovery of the Sharyoof Field. Exploration activities continued in parallel with the development of the Sharyoof oil field.

Following Sharyoof’s success, Dove Energy discovered Bayoot – a fractured granite basement oil field. Bayoot crude is commingled with Sharyoof crude and exported 70 kilometres via a dedicated Dove pipeline to Nexen’s Masila facility

Dove Energy produces 10,000bopd from a total of 20 wells.
